MEET
Jeffrey J. Dent, D.D.S.
Board Certified Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon
Dr. Jeffrey J. Dent has practiced since 1987 as a periodontal specialist. He attended Emory University from 1977-1980 and was accepted early to Emory University School of Dentistry. He graduated from the school of Dentistry in 1984 and practiced General Dentistry for one year. He was then accepted into the Periodontal Residency Program at the Medical College of Georgia. After completing his periodontal specialty program in 1987, he established his private practice. Dr. Dent is a member of First Presbyterian Church, as well as numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and Georgia Dental Association. Dr. Dent enjoys golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife and two children.
MEET
Brian Mears, DMD, MS, MBA
Board Certified Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon
Dr. Mears is a native of Lizella, Georgia. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and minor in Philosophy. Dr. Mears subsequently graduated from the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University as a dual degree DMD/MBA recipient. He was awarded DMD with distinction in research, reflecting his extra-curricular commitment to research activities in addition to his clinical training. Dr. Mears continued his education at Augusta University, specializing in Periodontics and Implant dentistry. Dr. Mears was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies upon his graduation, and he received the American Academy of Periodontology award for Outstanding Achievement in Periodontics.
Dr. Mears is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He holds the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor at the Dental College of Georgia. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Southern Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. He is a Fellow in the Institute of Advanced Laser Dentistry and an Alumnus of the Pikos Surgical Institute. Dr. Mears is trained in all aspects of periodontal and implant surgery. He has extensive training in IV sedation, periodontal regeneration techniques, sinus augmentation procedures, laser assisted periodontal therapy, bone grafting for ridge augmentation, utilization of biologics and botulinum toxin, and dental implant surgery.
Dr. Mears and his wife, Maggie, have two sons. He is a parishioner of St. Mary on the Hill. He enjoys sporting clays, golfing, and Georgia football gamedays. Dr. Mears is a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.
